After seeing all the recent media coverage about the epidemic of overweight children, an episode of Dr. Phil’s TV show gave her the idea to market this motivational package. Grandma’s Healthy Kids Club now has members in all 50 states, several provinces in Canada, and in Australia and the United Kingdom. She made up a daily activity chart with healthy habits such as “eat 3 servings of vegetables”, “go to bed in time to get 9 hours of sleep”, and “get 30-60 minutes of exercise”. She then added other habits like “made bed; dirty clothes in hamper”, and “homework before TV or video games” and decided the chart would be helpful for any child, not just those who are overweight.
A registered dietician for a local hospital serves as a consultant for the club to make sure all nutritional information is accurate.
