Well rather than having her little ones in separate rooms, mum Amanda Scott has embraced co-sleeping with her five kids and instead has one GIANT bed for all the family.

Posting a clip of the unusual set-up on TikTok, Amanda – who is known as LittleSouthernWife on the platform – revealed that the specially-made bed has two mattresses to fit them all.

She explained: “Eight years ago my husband made our family bed so we could co-sleep with our littles.

“It’s a king and queen mattress pushed together in a handmade frame.”

Unsurprisingly, the mum wasn’t able to find one sheet to fit both mattresses so the family make do without and have lots of blankets instead.

The clip of Amanda making up the huge family bed has been viewed over four MILLION times on TikTok and sparked debate among users.

One replied: “Co-sleeping is a big NO.”

In response to this, another wrote: “So many people think it’s just about sleeping when it’s really about strengthening positive attachments in the family.”

And needless to say, Amanda was inundated with questions about how she manages “mum and dad time” – which prompted her to make another video.

In the Q&A clip, the mum-of-five insisted: “My husband and I have a healthy sex life.”

Sharing footage of her husband throwing her on the family bed, Amanda told her 14,000 followers: “And we explore other spaces in OUR HOME when we want intimacy.”

In response to another co-sleepers’ comment about places she has sex, Amanda joked that it’s “so vanilla” to confine it to just one room.

The mum added: “Our older kids sleep in their own beds.

“They make the transition when they are ready and we fully support and encourage them to sleep in their own beds. They are also super independent for those worried.”

What is co-sleeping and is it safe?

Co-sleeping is when parents sleep in the same space as their children whether this is in bed or on the sofa.

It’s estimated that half of all UK mums will share a bed with their baby at some point during the first few months of their little one’s life.

The NHS guidelines state that you should NEVER co-sleep with a baby if:

  • You or your partner smoke, even if you never do so in bed
  • You or your partner have been drinking alcohol
  • You or your partner are on medication which might make you sleep heavily

While it’s never advisable to co-sleep with your baby, the National Childbirth Trust recommends ways to make the bed sharing safer…

  • Make sure your baby can’t fall out of the bed or become trapped between the mattress and the wall.
  • Keep your baby cool by using sheets and blankets rather than a duvet.
  • Ensure bedding does not cover your baby’s face or head.
  • Always put your baby to sleep on their back rather than their front or side.
  • Babies don’t need a pillow until they are at least a year old. They should also be kept away from parents’ pillows
