The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge touched down in Lahore on Thursday (17 October), as they continued their tour of Pakistan, where they visited the same cancer hospital Princess Diana did in 1996 and 1997.

Kate wowed in white for the occasion, donning a shalwar kameez by Gul Ahmed and a shawl by Maheem Khan. The Duchess has continued to wear traditional dress throughout the royal tour, including a stunning blue kurta with white embroidery and a traditional Chitrali hat for Wednesday’s outing.

The Duke and Duchess had a private meeting with the Governor of Lahore before continuing on to visit the children’s ward at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre.

The hospital is a state-of-the-art facility built by Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan in memory of his late mother, who died from cancer in 1985.

It’s not the first time the royal family have been involved with the hospital, as Princess Diana famously visited in 1996. During her visit, she was photographed comforting one of the young children undergoing treatment – a moment that made headlines around the world.

In memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, who was killed in an automobile accident in Paris, France on August 31, 1997.

While in Lahore, Kate and William also visited the charity SOS Children’s Village, which helps provide schooling and shelter for over 150 girls and boys in the area. The couple then visited the National Cricket Academy, where they joined in a match with children.
