When Ayesha Curry isn’t in the kitchen cheffin’ it up she teams up with her hubby, NBA champion Stephen Curry, to give back to the Oakland community. Earlier this year they launched the Steph and Ayesha Curry Foundation to gift young ladies from the Bay area interested in STEM careers with annual scholarships. Now the lovebirds have launched the Eat. Learn. Play Foundation to help encourage healthy lifestyles, end hunger among children and increase access to education.

“Children are our future and we are deeply dedicated to empowering them and opening doors for their futures,” the Curry’s said in a press release. “This organization is all about instilling ongoing tangible change for underprivileged children growing up in the Bay Area and beyond. As parents, we see a multitude of unique opportunities our kids have access to, and our hope is that Eat. Learn. Play. and the critical fundamental development tools it provides will positively impact children in our community to live out their dreams.”

According to their website, one in six children in the U.S going hungry, only 14 percent of students from low-income neighborhoods are getting a college degree and 25 percent of children are getting adequate amounts of physical activity.

“Talent is everywhere. Opportunity isn’t,” read one of the foundation’s Instagram posts. “We are committed to unlocking the amazing potential of every child by fighting to end childhood hunger, ensuring universal access to quality education, and enabling healthy, active lifestyles.”

For their launch event on July 18th, over 900 children from Oakland’s Parks, Recreation, and Youth Development’s Town Camps gathered for a day of family fun across 12 different activity stations that focused on eating, playing and learning. To help accomplish their mission to instill the importance of healthy living and education, the Currys have partnered with Steph’s home team Google, USTA, Under Armour, Kaiser Permanente, Chase, GoDaddy, Rakuten, PGA, REACH, Back to the Roots and Revolution Foods.
