A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of felony domestic battery with strangulation and misdemeanor false imprisonment after the victim was seen by witnesses being dragged by the hair into a residence when she tried to escape a domestic battery situation where she was allegedly choked, a sheriff’s deputy said.

I recently had the pleasure of speaking to several hundred Tahoe City residents on a warm summer evening in August. I was there for a celebration that has been a long time coming.
Residents gathered in the parking lot of the blighted Henrikson Building to take a ceremonial swing of the hammer — to say goodbye to an eyesore of a building whose useful life came to an end years ago. They were also there to celebrate what will soon take shape as Tahoe City’s first new hotel in more than 60 years.

The Annual Carson City Pooch Plunge hosted by CASI and the Carson City Aquatics Center showed the town’s best dogs a barking great time at their annual event.
Each year, on the last day that the outdoor pool at the Carson City Aquatic Center is open, the gates are opened to the pooches for a day of swimming, ball catching, frisbee chasing, and lots and lots of pats for the good boys and girls of Carson City.

Segments of the Interstate 580 Carson City Freeway will be reduced to a single lane throughout the weekend as part of a Nevada Department of Transportation project to resurface and enhance the interstate.
I-580 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction between North Carson Street and College Parkway from 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 through 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 as crews stripe the newly-paved freeway and resurface bridge decks. Speeds will be reduced to 45 mph, and motorists should anticipate minor travel delays.

A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested on 20 felony charges including burglary, possession of stolen property, burglary with a firearm, possession of instrument with burglarious intent, and removing a firearm’s serial number.
Marco Antonio Covarrubias was arrested in the 1100 block of Ridgefield Drive early Thursday morning after deputies were responding to the area of Pinion Pine Drive on report of a burglary, and the area had recently reported several other burglaries during the past week with similar circumstances.
