The mother of a teenager with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder who has struggled with her relationship with her daughter, author Gelena Gorelik created a digital course to support other parents like her. To accompany the course, Gorelik wrote her new book “From Havoc to Harmony: 5 Steps to Restore Peace at Home and Rebuild Your Relationship with Your ADHD Child” (published by Balboa Press AU) to put her teachings and coaching tips in writing.

Citing the prevalence of suicide rates among parents of kids with ADHD, Gorelik says that her five-step program focuses on the importance of parental self-care along with providing parenting tips. The book’s sections look at ways to reframe the situation, understand the child’s needs, meet one’s own needs, respond rather than react and become a leader instead of being a manager. Overall, the author wants parents to realize that they need to take care of themselves and worry about their own well-being rather than trying to control their child’s behavior. In addition, “From Havoc to Harmony” includes bonus chapters on sibling rivalry, children and electronics, the issue of a clean room and a resource guide.

“Just have faith in this process, and you will see the amazing results it will bring into your life and your relationship with your ADHD kid,” Gorelik says. “Just follow my 5-step plan, and enjoy the results.”
