SIMPSON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A man has been taken to jail after allegedly stealing a car while a teenage slept in the backseat.

This incident happened on Tuesday in the city of Franklin.

Police officers found the car going 60 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone and pulled it over.

They found that the driver – 33-year-old David Davis – appeared to be intoxicated and began searching the car. Police reportedly found marijuana and an open alcohol container.

Police also found a 14-year-old boy sleeping in the back seat.

The teen told police that the last thing he remembered was going to sleep in a Walmart parking lot while waiting for his parents.

Neither the parents nor the teen had realized what had happened prior to police pulling over the car.

Davis was arrested and charged with kidnapping, auto theft, DUI and other charges.
